Who was the first person to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel and survive?

Annie Taylor a 63 year old school teacher who went over the Falls. Annie was seeking her fame and fortune but did not find fortune, just fleeting fame and continued life. She went over the Canadian-Horseshoe Falls on her birthday, October 24, 1901.

Annie Taylor died on April 29, 1921, aged 82, at the Niagara County Infirmary in Lockport, New York, and was interred in the “Stunter’s Rest” section of Oakwood Cemetery in Niagara Falls, New York.
